Ireland rated 14th least corrupt country

Ireland has been rated the 14th least corrupt country in the world by the Transparency International agency. The latest annual ratings index issued by the agency gives Ireland a rating of 8 out of 10 in its corruption perception index. The higher the rating the less corrupt the country is seen to be.

Ireland's rating in last year's index was 7.7.
The top rated country was New Zealand, which scored 9.4, with Denmark second at 9.3 and Singapore next at 9.2.
The index is described as a measure of perceptions by international business and experts of levels of public sector corruption.
Bringing up the bottom of the ranking list was Somalia, followed by Afghanistan, Myanmar ( formerly known as Burma ) and Sudan.
