Kevin Cardiff gets top job at Dept of Finance
A key figure behind current policy on financial services has been named as the next head of the Department of Finance.
Kevin Cardiff is to become secretary general of the department at the end of this month, to succeed David Doyle who is retiring.
Mr Cardiff, who is in his late 40s, has worked in the department since 1987, and has most recently been in charge of taxation and financial services there. He has been a key adviser over the past 18 months to minister Brian Lenihan in formulating the government's policy on the rescue of the banks and the reorganisation of regulation in the financial sector. He holds degrees from UCD and the University of Washington.
